Who is going to play golf in Tuscany should really see and play the Argentario golf course !
Opened just a few years ago this 18 hole course nowadays is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen and played in Italy. Laid out in a very generous and spacious manner the course is ideally embedded into the marvellous hilly landscape of Monte Argentario peninsula.
Particularly from the first nine holes you have some breathtaking views down to the lagoons and the sea as far as Talamone and Punta Ala.
A relatively long 18 holes course with its almost 6 km of length from the yellow tees, slope rate here 138, Par 71, course rating yellow 72,4.
Three of the 4 Par 5es are (from yellow tee) clearly over 500 m long, lots of water hazards – and all that amidst the marvellous flora of maritime Maremma. All playing areas are very well kept, obviously there is never a lack of water to keep the course in best condition. Modern covered driving range.
Clubhouse with small restaurant and beautiful terrace, at the close by Resort/Spa a high level pro shop and an exquisite restaurant. All kinds of golf trolleys/carts – I really suggest to take an e-trolley ort cart, this course is somewhat demanding!
Open all year, no closing day. Reservation recommended.
The course is part of a major golf resort and spa, the entire arrangement is elegant and shows a lot of taste. I would see it match also high expectations.
How to get there: In any event from North or South over SS1 Aurelia, exit Orbetello (some 40 km South of Grosseto). Drive through the (worth to be seen) town of Orbetello; latest at the end of the town you will not miss the many information signs for Argentario Golf. Good road uphill, straight to the golf/spa. I recommend to pass the spa building and continue down to the clubhouse, unload bags, make arrangements for tee-times and trolleys, and only then drive back and park the car at the large parking area at the entrance to the resort.
