Good News!
Castelfalfi Golf Club is open again. The old course has been extended, made larger, modified in many other aspects and is open for play again. It is now called "Mountain Course" which implies the second course, under construction right now, will be named "Lake Course". The first 9 holes of the new course are scheduled for opening for August/September 2011, the rest will follow later. A completely new clubhouse with restaurant and bar as well as a terrace with beautyful view down on the course, new building for the caddymaster, large driving range with open air and covered posts, spacious parking area - it all leaves you with good impressions.
The new section/course is making good progress. The first 9 holes have been seeded just these days (October 2010). It will now depend from the coming winter at what exact times the rest of the truly large golf club will be ready for play. The interim access by car is still somewhat long and bumpy; once the whole area will be open to the public this will find another and easy solution.
With the earlier deficiencies in infrastructure being overcome Castelfalfi with its soon 18+9 holes and in the end with two 18 hole courses in its spectacular location up in the High Tuscany will become an absolute "gem" for ambitioned golfers and people who have fallen in love with Tuscany in general.

Due to the remarkable differences in levels we recommend to rent a cart.
A golf course some 300 m above sea level, profiting nicely from the hilly landscape of upper Tuscany. Truly beautiful, from some holes spectacular views, lots of water hazards. Fairways and greens are well kept.
How to get there:
From the North: take raccordo Firenze/Pisa/Livorno (FiPiLi), exit Ponsacco, take direction Volterra, thereafter follow traffic signs Castelfalfi (part of the commune of Montaione), see signs where to leave street and turn right and downhill to the course.
From the South: Direction S.Gimignano, from there to Montaione, then Castelfalfi, see sign for golf course.
