The tirrenia golf course lies in close proximity to the sea-side amidst a thick old-growth mediterranean forest with many truly old and beautiful trees. Other than on many more modern courses the single holes are clearly separated from each another, you will not find the parallel fairways we know from many other places. Here, too – like at nearby Cosmopolitan Golf Course – they have enough water resources which means the course will be best maintained and always kept in fresh green. With the many shadow spending trees it is a golf course that is best suited not the least for hot summer days.

With is overall atmosphere Tirrenia golf course is a rather “contemplative” course that does not really hunt for the facilities that characterize newest courses.

Reception and the caddymaster building are kept rather simple but offer with its friendly and forthcoming personnel all a golfer would expect. Small pro-shop for the daily needs.
The restaurant with its very nice terrace shows the same simple but absolutely cosy style; here one can eat very well and relax , perhaps just before going for the second round of 9 holes.
Big driving range, shared with nearby Cosmopolitan Golf Course – you actually hit the balls from opposite directions, with the necessary distance of course….

In the end it will remain a question of personal taste and preferences which type of course one would like to play. Tirrenia Golf Course has, as mentioned already, its own flair and style – we love to play this course, particularly so in hot summer. That’s the time when the restaurant offers a light and slightly sparkling white wine that alone is worth the trip…..

All in all a rock-solid and well kept 9 hole course, highly recommendable in hot summer, amidst age-old trees with relaxing shadow, just a few hundred meters from the sea-side. Not spectacular, but a relative long and “honest” course.

How to get there: Motorway A 12 direction Livorno, exit Pisa Centro, direction Camp Darby, then turn right direction Tirrenia (alongside USArmy depot), at Tirrenia go to the end of the street and turn left at the roundabout, follow signs for Tirrenia Golf/Golf Hotel. Ring the bell with gate closed. Parking under the trees.
