Playing golf in Tuscany? If so: try hard to consider this course as well, or better: see and play it.

Not just because it is the oldest Italian golf course, but more so as it is absolutely harmoniously integrated into the Tuscan landscape of the Florence area.
A course best fit into the local topographic conditions, again and again with beautiful views on to this pleasant part of the region that connects Florence with the Chianti Classico. In the row of courses in the hilly parts of Tuscany probably one that in a particular way reflects Tuscan flair, in this regard comparable with Castelfalfi, Poggio dei Medici and Montecatini.

18 holes, each of which absolutely unique, practically no parallel fairways, partly sidelined with impressive old trees and thus also nice to play in hot summer. A rather challenging course, perhaps not so because of its length but rather because of its notorious pending fairways where a ball that has been hit straight as a dart and landed in the middle of the fairway might start rolling in a direction not always following the players intentions………Small greens, many of them with two or more levels, not just making the course easier.

Through its history Ugolino has seen many top-level tournaments and continues to be one of the most important courses in Italian golf life. Some elder golfer might even recall a 1983 play-off won by Bernhard Langer against Ballesteros and Brown at Ugolino.

Good pro-shop with top level assortment.

How to get to golf course Ugolino:
Motorway A1, exit Firenze Sud, then take SP 222 direction Siena/Greve, after Grassina turn in left to the club, well provided with sign posts.
Alternatively: A1, exit Firenze/Certosa, direction Siena/Greve, once on top of the hill after Greve turn in left.
