Not a surprise for experts: Montelupo offers marvellous ceramics. Traditional ones or more modern style, something for any kind of taste. Drive through the city (everything closed over mid-day), follow the signs to the places of fabrication and pay a visit there. Almost all of them have a large show room where you buy directly.
I would like to draw your attention to a show room somewhat outside Montelupo, but specifically attractive. It belongs to the Dolfi family, upon request you can have your own personalized porcellaine made here. They export worldwide. In Montelupo itself there is a very good ceramics museum with precious old pieces, more than worthwhile a visit.
How to get there:
Take motorway direction Florence-Signa; at exit Signa take raccordo Fi-Pi-Li (Raccordo Florence- Pisa- Livorno) until Montelupo. As an alternative, go to Tavarnuzze, take the „Cassia“ until San Casciano, turn right there and take the local road directly to Montelupo – a breathtaking experience.
