La SelvaLa Selva is a place with long history and tradition: wine has been grown since the times of Etruscans and Romans. Through medieval, during the reign of the Medici as well as by all following owners of the estate there has been a continuous cultivation of high quality wines.  Against this background and amidst very well kept vineyards this property offers its guests some 80 hectares of a Tuscany landscape as taken from a picture book.In this hilly area you may go for a walk or undertake mountain bike tracking. Strategically well placed for sightseeing – situated just between Florence, Siena and Arezzo with easy and quick access to the important places of art in Tuscany. Holiday Apartments and houses with their own garden, separated always by hedges and with its private access have been built from the old structures.  One of the owner’s favourite hobbies has been the collecting of antiques which has lead to the fact that the holiday apartments are furnished with precious and very decorative antique pieces. With lots of taste and fine imagination the owner has succeeded in creating holiday domiciles that are as beautiful as they are comfortable – something truly unique.Moreover this estate offers you numerous opportunities: a wonderful big pool, a tennis court with synthetic turf placed on top of sand, a boccia course which could be used by all guests of the estate free of charge. |

see above: Il Fienile - these are the indipendent parts of the former farmhouse, some 400 m distant from pool and tennis court; access over a well kept small road that also leads to the other buildings of the estate and ends shortly afterwords in the pikturesque small village of Montebenichi. Behind this "farmhouse" and its gardens, there is an unfenced little pond that contributes to maintaining the ecologic balance. La Selva – a particularly attractive Tuscany holiday domicile in many aspects. Its strategic location in the triangle between Florence, Arezzo and Siena above the Ambra valley (Valdambra) had already lead Etruscans and Romans to first settlements, fortifications and first wine growing. A big number of archaeological finds, ancient bridges, roads and boroughs once fortified are testimonials of its history. In medieval times this border line area with many fortifications all over the valley between the cities mentioned above has seen a lot of important battles. Also La Selva itself in those days has been a watchtower for the defence of the entry to the rich Ambra valley. Florence, however, succeeded in getting hold of the upper valley step by step, and finally La Selva became property of the well-known Florentine Medici family. Latest at that stage wine growing in this area has been documented, given the Medici family’s preference for wines of the Valdambra area and in particular this wine growing estate. All owners that followed have kept alive this tradition cultivating best quality wines. Nowadays the some 80 hectares of Villa La Selva close to Montebenichi border on the Southern Chianti Classico, in an area particularly rich of pastureland and woods which give this landscape a wild and unspoilt touch. In 1954 the Carpini family bought La Selva estate, full scale wine production has been resumed in 1988. The old stone buildings of the estate meanwhile have been completely restored.
