San Gimignano Villa

Right in the fascinating hilly landscape between Volterra and San Gimignano lies Villa Montignoso on top of a hill, surrounded by fresh and spicy air and century old trees on a private property of some 9 hectares.

The hill on which the Villa is situated has an interesting history: as a forward control post of San Gimignano it was known as the "fire mountain" where alarm fires were lit once the Volterra armed forces started reaching out dangerously.

Back to our times: you will find a real jewel placed there in quietness and harmony. You will be delighted once you return, full of impressions of landscapes, architecture and history, to your so nicely protected hideaway. Wideness and comfort will await you, particularly so in the villa that was created during the 50ies out of an old estate.

The owner of that time loved to have guests, but at the same time he enjoyed his privacy.
That is why the dependance was built where he hosted his guests befitting their rank.
For particularly elegant occasions there was the living and the huge dining room - both with impressive open fire places. Once the landlord got tired the guests could continue with their festivities in the living room of the dependance or just move to their bedrooms.

Outside the villa there is a little park, flowers and bushes in blossom, century old treed offering their shade.

Towards the road a more than 6 foot high wall with two closed iron gates protects your privacy.

To the private 9 hectare enclosure where goats and deer graze one gets only through garden gates; the private paths are ideal for joggers.
