A real fortress must, of course, have its own escape route – as is the case at our castello; today this short but really impressive (to take it for the first time is a kind of positive adventure) route leads directly from the courtyard to the garden and the pool.

During summer there is a music festival in the owners private castel garden including the tower with its draw bridge. At Castello di Proceno you will stay in a strongly fortified castle from the 12th century – with its nice enlargement stemming from renaissance and all comfort of today, all in all a more than interesting combination.

The medieval little town of Proceno has not changed much its appearance over the centuries and, together with the Castello, proudly presents itself high on top of the hill.
It were the Etruscans who first founded Proceno; and the picturesque town is showing its history of more than 2000 years with great charm.

Chiusi with its famous Etruscan museum is 45 kms away; the enchanting (utopian) art city Pienza named after pope Pius II, is about 45 kms away. It is 35 kms to Orvieto, a city located like a crown on top of a tuff stone plateau with steep slopes, looking today as it did 500 years ago.

At the spa of San Casciano dei Bagni (some 26 km away) you can take advantage of a 10% discount as guests of Castello di Proceno.
Events at Castello Proceno:
Any kind of family events (like weddings, anniversary ecc.) could be held in the Castello and Lady Cecilia would give you an helping hand in organizing.

Cultural events: Depending on availability, type of reason and request there will be held dinner parties with live music; should you be interested please ask Signora Cecilia for information whether anything of this kind will take place during your stay.
A very special event is the open air festival inside the sentimental castle walls.

Restaurant There is a wide choice to select from antipasto, pasta (primo), meat/fish (secondo) or dessert – just as you desire.
There is certainly no lack of options and the menu changes every week.
Tasteful local wines including good value house wines, but there is also a broad spectrum of highly renowned Italian wines waiting for you. We would attribute the restaurant 3 stars; it is in fact difficult to find another place comparable in price and quality.
You can, of course, do the cooking yourself, but is it not exciting just to have the choice!
